Before I start on tonight’s show:  I just want to add that I have just recently purchased Blake Lewis’ album.  I think that after a couple of listens, I’d recommend it to those of you who are in the market for something interesting. Throw Morrisey, Jamiroquai, Justin Timberlake, and Prince into a blender, and you’ll probably end up with something like Blake. Final analysis: a couple of pretty catchy songs, nothing terribly lame.  My biggest criticism...

From seasons 2-6, and 7 of American Idol, I have always dedicated one blog to handicapping the top 12 (10) finalists. It is usually one of my favorite Idol-related blogs of the year. This year’s competition features significantly fewer “straw men” than in previous years.  I am expecting several surprise eliminations before everything is all said and done. So here is my list of odds of winning as well as order of elimination. GOOD CHANCE OF WINNING 1.  ...

Hello again.  I hope that this format works out alright.  I have always had problems when I write my blogs on a Mac, then cut and paste them here in JoeUser.  At least it seems that my paragraph breaks are preserved in the transition. Enough “inside baseball”, let’s talk about IDOL! Last night we saw the top eight women finalists.  I have concluded that the women are nowhere near as good as the men.  Outside of Brooke and Carly, I don’t...

Tuesday, March 5, 2008:  Good show.  Nearly all of the performances were worthy of a trip into the top-twelve.  Will there be a surprise on the results’ show this week?  My guess: “Yes.” 1.    Luke Menard sang“Wake me up (before you go-go).”  Ugh.  Luke sings like Herbert (the creepy old guy) from “Family Guy.”  The only really “bad” song of the night. 2.    David Archulett...

I wrote about the men, now I will write about the women. A few hours after the show, what do I remember? Two girls sang Heart, one was good and one was bad. Brooke White put Carly Simon comparisons to bed.  She certainly is likeable. The horse girl from Oregon certainly is nice looking. We need more of her on TV! (Kristy Lee Cook.) Ramiele Mulabay seems like a nice girl, but she REALLY needs a skirt.  One of my favorites. The last girl (Asia'H) who sang "All By Myself" ...

Okay.  It has been nearly a year since the last time I wrote in here.  I guess that I had become burned-out with writing about "American Idol" with little-to-no reaction. Watching last night's show, I decided that it is about time that I get "back on the horse" and share my opinions on Idol with the world once more.  (So comment damn it!!) Here we go (in no particular order): Daniel Archuletta: Strong contestant.  Seemed less dumbstruck in his post song interview.&...

Hey. Late report. . . This week Haley was eliminated. That is too bad. Along with Blake, Haley was the other contestant about whom I cared.Sorry about the lack of articles. I just haven't felt like writing this season. There is a lot of competition on-line, and I find that I'd rather enjoy the show, rather than write about it.Maybe I'll write about Hell's Kitchen in June. I LOVE that show

Click here for my latest article. Tonight was Gina Glocksen's turn to go. Interesting that the bottom-three are "involved".  Haley is engaged.  Gina has a boyfriend.  Phil is married. If a person wants to become a pop star, he/she should at least try to at least minimally conceal his or her relationship. Look at Daughtry.  His attached-ness led to his early elimination. Presumably single people win these contests.  (That's why Jordin is a genius.&nb...

Click here for my latest article I will do it a little differently tonight.  It is spring break, the Twins are playing, and I wasn't in the mood to take notes on tonight's show. Instead of what I usually do, I will just make a few comments on what I remember from tonight's show.  (Then I will go watch a Doctor Who DVD. -In case you're wondering which one: It is "The Armageddon Factor" from 1978.) My two cents: I like big band/ swing music.  It seemed that everyon...

Click here for my latest article Tomorrow's headline will certainly read: "Sanjaya Safe Again."  That guy has really caught the imagination of America.  Amazing. . .  Take Scott Savol, John Stevens, Carmen Rasmussen, and Ryan Starr; mix them all together; add water; and you'll get Sanjaya Malakar.  Amazing!  (Most people would mix in Kevin Covais or Jasmine Trias, but I don't think either of them was that bad.  . . . actually, come to think of it, I was a moder...

Click here for my latest article Tonight's episode featured the coaching and music preferences of Gwen Stefani.  I have enjoyed No Doubt's and Gwen Stefani's music over the years, but I surprisingly haven't seen her interviewed.  I felt that Gwen Stefani came off really well on camera and in the coaching sessions.  She is really down-to-earth for such a famous individual. The performances on this evening's show were up and down.  There were a few who delivered surpris...

Andy Richter is one of my favorite comic actors.  He used to be Conan O'Brien's sidekick on his late show.  He had a really good show on FOX called "Andy Richter Controls the Universe".  Sadly that show didn't last so long.  I always wished that they'd restart it. Andy Richter also had a part in Chris Elliot's movie, "Cabin Boy".  Critics hated the film, I liked it a lot. Andy Richter's newest project is a sitcom about a CPA-turned-Private Eye.  "...

Click here for my latest article. Tonight's show: As usual, they started off with a recap of Tuesday's show. Peter Noone sang a song. Ford commercial.  We watched "real time" tonight, so we actually saw the Ford commercial at our house tonight. We find that Phil and Sanjaya are safe, and that Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards were in the bottom two. LuLu sang a song. Stephanie Edwards gets sent home. Thoughts: After doing a good job of predicting the bottom...

Click here for my latest article The first night of the spring gave us a fun, interesting, and exciting show.  The performers, host, and judges were happy and loose.  There were a number of excellent performances, as well the history-making "worst Idol performance ever". Tonight's Performances: 1. Haley Scarnato sang "Tell Him".  Looks like Haley has decided to turn up the sex-appeal.  Her outfit and dancing were probably enough to help her overcome the d...

Here's a good magic trick that I have come across while browsing the internet.  It is from a Japanese TV show. The magician says that he is hungry for a hamburger. After that, he says he is hungry for a teriyaki burger. Saying any more than that would spoil the surprise of the magic. Enjoy.  The whole thing runs about a minute and a half.  Click the link. Cool Hamburger Magic
