Tonight's show:

  • As usual, they started off with a recap of Tuesday's show.
  • Peter Noone sang a song.
  • Ford commercial.  We watched "real time" tonight, so we actually saw the Ford commercial at our house tonight.
  • We find that Phil and Sanjaya are safe, and that Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards were in the bottom two.
  • LuLu sang a song.
  • Stephanie Edwards gets sent home.

Thoughts:

  • After doing a good job of predicting the bottom three and the "loser" last week, I thought I could do no wrong!  WRONG!  Only Stephanie made it out of my picks for the bottom three.  My other two picks (Phil and Sanjaya) were safe.
  • Stephanie looked really uncomfortable last night.  Chris was boring.
  • Sanjaya lasts another week.  I'll have to catch the reaction at VFTW!
  • My three year-old son likes to imitate Ryan Seacrest.  It is pretty cute.  In the mornings when we drive by the Ford dealership on the way to daycare, he always points and says, "Look!  It's American Idol!"  (Product placement and advertising work.)

Edit in comment form:

I was thinking: since we'll never know who rounded out the bottom-three, it is possible that my predictions were strong. As long as the third member of the bottom-three was either Phil or Sanjaya.

We'll never know. . .

I know, what was up with that? They never did say!

I'm sorry to see Stefanie go, she had a bad night last night!

Well, I guess we'll see what happens next week...will Sanjaya be sent packing or not? !

Not only is Sanjaya getting the vote from Vote For The Worst, but Howard Stern is telling his listeners to vote for him. Add that all to every pre-teen girl vote and you can see why he's still in the competition. Plus it wouldn't surprise me if some guys were voting for him just to see his sister.

More than John Stevens, more than Scott Savol, more than Carmen Rasmussen, more than Ryan Starr, I am relishing the hatred of Sanjaya.

His audition was good, but his awfulness is so over-the-top.

I think that he was deliberately left out of the bottom three in order to lessen his votes next week.

However: wouldn't it be a riot if he were in the finals against Melinda?

I couldn't believe Stephanie got booted. Or that Chris was in the bottom two. People are crazy.

I'm not a Haley fan, but I thought she looked stunning Tuesday night.

Sanjaya. Ugh.
