Click here for my latest article.

From now, we're down to eight men and eight women.  Two more of each will be cut before the final twelve hits the big stage.

My favorite part of tonight's show was right after Heather (or Brenna) was eliminated, the camera cut away to Gedeon (of all people) for what should have been a reaction, yet Gedeon was just sitting there.  I am chuckling a bit now just writing about it.

From my article on the ten women finalists, I wrote:

Tonight's best:  Ayla, Mandisa, and Kellie

In trouble:  Heather, Kinnik, Brenna,  Ayla?

The women who were eliminated were Heather and Brenna.  Neither elimination was much of a surprise.

For my article on the top male finalists, I wrote:

Tonight's Best: Elliot, Chris, and Bucky

In trouble: Sway and David

The men who were eliminated were indeed Sway and David.  This week was too easy to pick.  I wonder who the next four to be eliminated will be?  My predictions: Gedeon and Will (Kevin will squeak through.), and Kinnik and Ayla.  Wow!  The women are hard to handicap.

I missed it so I'm glad to see you gave us the lowdown. I am also glad to see that nobody I liked got the boot. I won't mind if Kinnik goes next time. As for the guys, I'm not a Bucky fan at all.

I think that is likely that Kinnik will leave next week (unless she's fantastic). It is however hard to pick the person who will be leaving with her.

I'm not all that into the girl with the weird-set eyes. I can't even remember her name, but she sang the Reba McEntire song.

I thought the right ones got ousted this time, although I might have traded Kevin for Sway.

Chris is my favorite of the guys (could he possibly BE any hotter?) and Katherine(? the McPhee girl) is my fave of the girls. She can sing, and she's a real cutie. Very likable.

You don't know how hard it is to keep myself from reading the results when you post them. You're several hours ahead of me, and you post before Idol comes on here.

I agree that Elliot is excellent. The song he did last week, Moodys Mood for Love is actually not so much a Stevie Wonder song, I dont know where Paula got that. Its by James Moody and has also been covered by Quincy Jones, Take Six and an excellent version by Brian McKnight as well as the fantastic George Benson. I love his smoothnes of singing. He doesnt seem to have any trouble with any range or power of his voice. I think he will win the whole enchilada. Also, I think Chris will make it pretty far into the competition but will not need to win the competition to get a record contract.

That is the same for me too!

I think the right people got the boot. Next week it has to be chicken little, the kinnik girl and Ayla....

I don't want Ayla to go.  She will have to eventually of course.  I don't think that she has "connected" with the audience yet.  That said, she's the only other contestant whom I think is likely to get eliminated amongst the women.

Maybe that is what it is. I don't not like her and I don't like her. She seems to show no emotion at all. I don't know why that matters in singing, but she just seems to be on a school feild trip.

Here are the ones I think will make it to the final 12 for sure:

Men: Chris, Elliot, Taylor, Ace, Gideon...Number 6 spot I'm still debating. Kevin has the "adorably nerdy" factor, so he might get in (but if Bucky wows the judges w/ something, it might be him).

Women: Paris, Lisa, Kellie, Katherine, Mandisa...Ayla will make it if she continues to improve and loosens up a bit (she's too stiff). Melissa is gonna give her a good run for this spot.

Hi all,

There are some strong contenders this year. A lot of people are singing country, is that because of Carrie, or is it because I noticed it more? They are showing it here in the UK a day late than America so I find it hard not to look ahead at the results too.

I have noticed that America seems to favour female singers a lot more than the UK, but then again the UK doesn't have as many good singing talents. Katherine does stand a very good chance as a front runner (who hadnt fallen in love with her?), but I wonder if America is tired of not having another male idol?

I'm another one of those rooting for Ayla to stay in too. I think her trouble is that she's too controlled and precise to show enough emotion, but I really think I can listen to her sing the way she does. Like what KellyW said, does personality or any of the non-singing stuff really matters that much? Shouldn't we be voting for the people we would buy an album to listen to? Kellie is a nice gal, but I wouldnt buy her album.
