Yesterday (Friday) I decided to get myself a new jean jacket. Spring is coming, and before long it will be too warm for me to wear my winter jacket.

I got my last jean jacket in 1997. I collected enough Pepsi points to earn a Pepsi jean jacket. That jacket served me well. I wore that jacket every Spring and Fall (and most of each winter -a jean jacket was good enough when I lived in Japan-) since 1997. The jacket is very worn now. There are holes in all of the pockets, and each of the cuffs are falling off. It is so shabby now that I feel a bit embarassed to wear it around.

I decided that it was time to get a new jacket. I wanted to get a Levi's one. I figure that I am old enough and self-supported, and that I deserve to buy a few nice things for myself. (Plus: all of the jeans that I have bought at Wal-Mart/ Sam's Club have worn out within nine months of purchase. At least Levi's jeans will last a few years, as long as I don't add more girth to my frame and outgrow them.)

The first place we looked was at Kohl's. I had wanted to go to the Levi's Outlet store in Albertville Minnesota; but since we were close to Kohl's in Maple Grove, I figured that we might as well get one there. It turned out that they don't sell jean jackets at Kohl's. We had to drop by the factory outlet store on the way home.

During the drive, I spoke incredulously about how there weren't any jean jackets at Kohl's. My wife told me that they're probably out-of-style. I suppose that she's right, but I'd hate to think that they're not in-style. That was the coolest thing that I wore when I was in high school.

At the outlet store we found a nice jean jacket for me:

Besides the jacket, my wife and I got some one sweatshirt each (on clearance.) Also, Kazuko (my wife) got two really cute shirts at $2 each. (One of the shirts is tantalizingly cleavage-revealing.) It is funny: we came for a jean jacket, but we ended up spending twice-as-much as intended because we found some really good clearance stuff. (I suppose that's how the stores get you, isn't it?)

Anyway, I am happy. I've got me a new jean jacket, and my wife got some alluring new clothes. It won't be until 2011 when I write about my next new jean jacket.

I will leave you with a few "crowd pleasers." We were able to take some pictures of baby Kenny today.

I love this "surprise-face." It wasn't taken exactly today, but it is one of my favorite recent photos.

Before we went out today, I took Kenny into the shower and cleaned him off. He is really cute when he's all-clean.

Tummy time:

Here we are, ready to go shopping:

I think our spring break coincides with easter. We have to wait until mid-April.
Next year we won't be so lucky...

Your little boy is sooo cute!

Like the jean jacket too...I think jean jackets are a 'classic' item. They're so versatile..you can wear them with literally anything.

I'm a Minnesotan too! I think that's very cool. Your baby is very cute. I'm sorry, I just think it's the coolest thing ever that someone on here is from somewhere near me

Oooohh. I agree! I think Kenny needs a jean jacket too! You can get one for Kazuko also, and you can be a little matching family!
