Following a lackluster 2000-2006 themed show: Ace Young, Lisa Tucker, and Katharine McPhee found themselves in the bottom-three.  In the end, Lisa was sent home.

Lisa's departure leaves nine finalists.

It is a mystery to me why Lisa never quite caught-on once the competition moved to the big stage.  It seemed like she had a hard time defining herself, and her songs were never quite as good as they had been.

Katharine's fall into the bottom three was a bit of a surprise.  It is possible that she has begun to lose some of her luster, and her fans may be wavering.  I haven't been excited about Katharine for weeks.

Ace hasn't come close to matching his fantastic "Father Figure."  After I heard him doing that song, I assumed that he'd walk into the finals.  Now it seems that Ace will still have up to three weeks left in his run.

I still haven't seen yesterday episode yet.

I'am also surprise that Katherine's was in the bottom three. Maybe she's losing her votes to some of the more charismatic singers. The Voice Within is sang by Christina Aguerila. I don't think anyone has done well with a Christina song in AI. Christina is also amazing vocally with that song live, plus she has that distinctive voice. A distinctive voice might be what is lacking with Katherine.

Lisa just doesn't stand out. She's forgettable unfortunately.

It's surprising what I hear about what people think about last night shows, because when they finish American Idol, these are probably the types of songs we will hear from them.

I am having a hard time getting into the show this year. I am watching it because it is on and I do. I don't have a favorite at all. There are some I like more than others, but nobody I would pay to go see once this is over. I don't know. I am still waiting to be dazzled.

Me too. I "like" Katharine, Chris and Taylor but I'm not thrilled or getting goose bumps from any of them.

I bet Ace is getting votes from all the teen girls with cell phones. I imagine Lisa has quite a future in music.

I agree with Jill about Lisa. Even though she was eliminated early, I'd bet that she has the best chance of all the contestants to be famous in the long run.

I'd think that the problem this year is the lack of any suspense over who the eventual winner will be.

The most interesting aspect of this show will be to see how long Kellie lasts. Her singing is above-average, and her personality and look have the potential to propel her a long way.

Lisa will go far...she already had a career before AI (I think they mentioned during her audition that she performed in Lion King musicals).

Contestants need to rev things up that's for sure...

I picture Lisa in a Disney Channel genre, sorry to see her go.

Hey, North Carolina has 33% of the top 9 ! ( Chris, Kelly, and Bucky ) you would think after Fantasia and Clay they would just comb the Karoke bars of NC..........

So true! She does have a lot of fans.

Kellie should win because she's the most entertaining (glad she stopped spouting those contrived dumb blonde comments). Katharine deserves to win, but needs to develop more of a stage presence. Think about it. Her stage demeanor consists of walking across the stage and doing those uncomfortable body squirms. I like Katharine's voice the best, but I think Kellie fits her songs the best. None of the guys should win: Taylor's mannerisms are disturbing, rendering his mediocre voice irrelevant; Chris is one-dimensional, and Simon, notwithstanding his backpeddling, correctly called him out . . . Bo Bice set a terrible precedent by pulling the same nonsense last year; Ace can't sing--in fact Bucky is a better singer than Ace. Elliot is nothing special and his criminal looks and gangsta bouncing endear him to no one.

I finally watch the show yesterday! woohoo.

Lisa sang a song that was definitely too big for her, but it didn't justify her getting the boot.
I really don't know why Katherine was in the bottom 3 though. She was pretty, and she sang her song well, although not perfect.
I wish Kellie would try something different than country, she doesn't seem to put any effort into winning. I'm also getting tired of her trying to get all the sympathy votes.

There seems to be a charisma vs talent thing going on this year.

I watched only a few minutes of this last week's show. I saw Katherine perform and I have to say, quite honestly, after three notes I muted my television. I thought it was horrible! Then, when the judges started gushing over it my jaw dropped. I must be way off on what the judges want to hear.

I really like Kellie when she's talking. But, when she sings, she always has a vacant look in her eye. It's like she's trying too hard to remember the words or something. I hope she gets over that and can make her eyes more alive when she sings. If she did that, she'd be amazing.
