American Idol 5 Results' Show: April 5, 2006

Well after country night we found the Mandisa, Paris, and Elliot in the bottom three. That was an interesting bottom-three, considering that each of these three would conceivably have the most difficult time with the country genre.

Mandisa was there because her song wasn't very good. Paris was in the bottom three because she has REALLY lost her spark. Elliot was down there because he seemed traumatized on stage last night.

My biggest surprise of the evening was that Taylor was able to avoid the bottom three, considering his very pedestrian performance last night.

In the end Mandisa was sent away, leaving eight for next week's "Queen night". (For those of you who have been reading this blog over the past few years, there had been discussion of a "Queen night" on Idol. Looks like the scuttlebutt has become reality!)

If I were an Idol contestant, I'd probably choose "Don't Stop Me Now" as my Queen song. (I might do "Love of my life" if I were really ambitious.)

If Mandisa would have made the cut into next weeks show, would she have sang "Fat Bottomed Girls"?

Sure would like to see Taylor Hicks do "Flash." Minimal lyrics and dialogue from the Flash Gordon movie for him to have his seizures to. Maybe then he will be kicked off like he deserves.
