My wife's parents are visiting us from Japan. This is their first trip to Minnesota. They came to meet the new baby, but I am sure that they are interested in seeing some of the sights around Minneapolis and Saint Paul (as well as around Monticello.)

On Sunday, my parents, Kazuko's parents, and myself went to the Mall of America. (The Mall of America is the largest shopping center in the USA. There are about 450 stores and restaurants, as well as an indoor amusement park.) At the mall we did a little shopping, had lunch at the "California Grill," and we visited the aquarium. (I really like the aquarium at the mall.)

I think that going to the mall was a good experience for everyone.

I just arrived at my office. I hope that I have the energy to make it through the day. I am a little worn-out from a busy weekend! I am sure that it will be okay...

Tomorrow (Tuesday,) I will have to go to see my friend Andy at the eyeglasses store. He is an optician. My glasses broke while I was at the hospital, and Andy told me that I should come to see him to get a new pair. In the meantime, I am wearing my old glasses. With my old glasses, I can see perfectly fine to drive, but it is a little bit difficult to see and read signs in stores. Once I get my new glasses I will take a picture and post it on this weblog.

Thanks for reading! Scroll down to see pictures of the baby.

*About the baby: Kentaro is doing very well. He sleeps well (even by himself for a few hours/ night.) He eats every 2-3 hours. He doesn't cry very much. He seems to be a really calm baby.

Last night Kazuko and I gave Kenny a bath. After we gave him a bath and washed his hair, it stood straight up. It looks really cute! Once I get my own computer back from the repair shop I will post some of the cute pictures that we take.

Just how many stores of the 450 did you venture into??? BTW i really like the name you chose for your baby. Does "Kentaro" stand or mean something?

We chose Kentaro because he can call himselk "Ken" in the USA, and "Kentaro" in Japan. Since he is half-Japanese, he'll need to be able to use both names. (I also had a student that I liked with that name.)

We only visited about three stores at the mall this time. I wonder how many of them I have actually been to...

Jamie, I just wanted to post and tell you how much I've enjoyed reading your weblog. It's been so much fun watching your excitement over the new baby. The pictures are great (Kentaro is beautiful!) and I think that you and Kazuko are and will continue to be wonderful parents. Thank you for sharing!

I think that is a great idea about the baby's name. It's always fun to hear the USA version of a name, and the "Authentic" name. Well great job on the naming and when i have a baby in the future maybe i can come to you for some advice?!!
