Who the hell is voting for John Stevens?

Hey there.

We just finished watching the results' show on American Idol. It turned out that Amy Adams, LaToya London, and Jennifer Hudson were the bottom three vote-getters. Amy Adams -one of my favorites- was the contestant who was ultimately voted-off.

Conspicuously absent from the bottom three were Camile and John Stevens. John's performance last night was absolutely horrible. Camile's performances have never been as good as they should, but I think that the audience noticed improvement in her last night. That was enough to save Camile for next week to have another go at it.

I can see Camile eventually getting better. I can't say the same thing for John. Who keeps voting for that guy?

I can understand that John has enough fans to keep him from being eliminated, but what has he ever done to warrant keeping him out of the bottom three each week? Has he even had a good performance since his audition?

Sorry about my "ranting" style this time. This results' show kind of pushed my "angry buttons." If you want composure, scroll down to my previous critiques of the results' shows.

Let me add on to my article:

My wife and I were just talking about the show. We have noticed a few things, and I have come up with some predictions for the final two.

My wife noticed (and I agree) that George seems to be developing a larger and larger fan-base. That will be a good thing. George is BY FAR the best male voice in the competition. That's not really saying much though, is it?

Here are my odds for the eventual composition of the final 2:

Fantasia vs. the field- 3:2
Fantasia vs. Jasmine- 3:1
Fantasia vs. George- 10:1
Fantasia vs. Jon Peter- 70:1
Jasmine vs. George- 50:1 (in the case that Fantasia gets eliminated as #3)

Besides those, I can't think of any other plausible scenario. (Unless those knuckleheads who vote for John Stevens don't knock it off.)

That's a bummer that Amy got voted off- I really liked her style.  I bet some record company will pick up on her though.

I think if they ever released the actual voting percentage (which they wont, cause it will sway voters, though i think they should release all the numbers when the season is over) you will probably see that they are not separated by too many votes (hundreds and a few thousand is not a lot when you are talking about millions), and I mean there is only an average of about less than 20mil people voting each week, a lot of people have the mind set not to bother to vote in my mind for 3 reasons, 1. they don't care 2. it's only a 2 hour window 3. there are enough callers, so my call wont make a difference.

Anyway not everyone will be satisfied, i mean Fantasia is the clear best performer to most people (especially the judges), but what happens is George takes it away, or Jasmine, will you be really disappointed? remember AI: 1&2 those were designated to Tamyra and Clay, and they didn't win, but everyone was shocked about it, but they moved on, it wasn't like Jim Verraros or Carmen Rasmusen won you know the 2 that did win deserved to.

So to be really shocked as to who hangs around the bottom 3 is kinda misleading, Ruben was in the bottom 3 and that didn't stop him from winning, (obviously the only person to win without being in the bottom 3 was Kelly) i mean to me, it should be a wakeup call to those who think they are untouchable, like tonight with LaToya, she is the only one who sang a Motown ballad yesterday, and maybe America is telling her we weren't feeling it, so don't make us mad, lol. i don't know, am i shocked by the bottom 3, yes, only because i thought Camile was def. going home this week, but other than that, people shouldn't be so shocked you know.

When they said it was between LaToya and Jon going to the bottom 3, I was shocked when Latoya was sent.

Jasmine is my favorite female and George is my favorite male voice.

What did you think about the tacky little mustang music video?

I think that the bowling shirt and mafia-thug hat that Jon Peter Lewis was wearing would be a good look for him.

The Ford comercials seem to get better as the contestants are weeded out. When there are twelve finalists, there seems to be too much "face time" that needs to be filled in each short segment.

I was also really upset about this week's show. John Stevens has got to go! He was clearly upset as well. He knew those three girls had better performances than he.

Amy was in the bottom three, two times, right? I'm surprised at that. She has a good voice. I think there's just something about her that must rub a big portion of the viewers the wrong way. She's pretty goofy. But such a good singer! I'm sad to see her go.

I missed the results show so am thankful that you posted about it. I thought for sure John Stevens would go. He was horrendous! I can't believe Amy got the boot!

I really like George and would be happy to see him win. He has such a nice personality and seems to be improving each show. Fantasia has to be careful to not let the praise go to her head. She might start taking things for granted and start screwing up. She does seem like star quality though.

JillUser, you really don't see "star quality" in Fantasia?

To me, it seems that she jumps off the screen. There is a lot of charisma there. She seems to be head and shoulders above the rest. As a television "talent," I think she "can't miss."

I may have to temper my praise however because as a recording artist, I don't see all that much mainstream marketability. I think the main problem may be if she gets saddled with an "R&B artist" title, which is much less marketable than "pop talent." If her handlers can give her some pop songs to sing and succeed with, then she'll do quite well. If they just give her R&B songs to sing (for little reason other than she's black,) although she'll likely be successful, she'll end up selling fewer albums.

I hope that if she is perceived to be an R&B star, she can be handled like Whitney Houston or even Michael Jackson. Let the R&B people put a few R&B songs on the album (for style), and then squeeze in a few pop hits (for sales) as well.

That said: I am not quite sure that I'd buy her album. Hell, I haven't even bought Clay's LP yet. I have listened to his single (which I purchased) a few times.

JPL is a terrible singer, the Red Headed Kid is another bad singer and Carmen is the worst!

Fantasia is awesome, George Huff is brilliant, and LaToya London is good! ONE of them should be the winner!

Bet that up!

How many people have made the same "Freudian slip" calling Camile "Carmen."

Both young girls who were in over their heads?

I liked both of them!
