After tonight there will be only one more audition show. Following that will be the Hollywood/ group round, and then (my favorite) the sound stage round.

I enjoyed tonight's Los Angeles auditions. The judges seemed relaxed, the show was one hour long, and they only showed three contestants who made it to the next round. These kind of shows make it easy for me to relax while still taking notes.

Tonight's notables:

Alaina Alexander: a young lady who looks REALLY good on camera. Think Alyssa Milano. She seems to sing alright, and Simon appears to see something special in her. I like her chances.

Brandon Rogers: hitherto career backup singer. Has a nice tone to his voice, and looks to be a likeable young man. From what I can tell, women may like this guy.

Brian Miller: wash-out from last year's Hollywood round. Returned for a second chance, and made it through. This guy is a pretty good singer, but he doesn't have a sparkle in his eye. Maybe he was too nervous for his audition. I wonder whether he'll get any farther this time. . .

Next time: San Antonio auditions.

My favorite performance was by the 64 year old man who lost his wife to cancer 2 days before the auditions started. A very touching moment.

I don't think it was two days earlier, was it? If so, that is some timing.

Strangely, the emotion of all of that didn't hit me until the day after the show. In the morning, I somehow felt really sad for that poor guy. Stuff like that can happen to anybody. It makes one think. . .

What I fear will happen next season will be a flood of people with sick partners and a petition who will have to be turned away from auditions. "TV Magic" like that can only be captured once.
