Tonight's episode featured the final audition stop in San Antonio, Texas. After tomorrow's audition highlights show, the competition will finally move on to Hollywood, where the fun will begin.

The Contestants:

Haley Scarnato: Former wedding band singer. Nice look, and a reasonably good singer. I really liked her. The judges were a bit lukewarm on her. I have a feeling that she'll sneak into the next round (after Hollywood).

Jasmine Holland: Usually I don't write about contestants who didn't make it; but her supporters were carrying an interesting sign which read: "Jasmine's are American Idol."

Baylie Brown: Self-proclaimed city girl from the country. The judges loved this one. Simon said she was "commercial with a capital C." I thought that she was okay. Her audition didn't make me excited, but I can appreciate her talent. Baylie Brown looks a lot like British pop star/ Doctor Who co-star Billie Piper. (I wonder whether Simon's production company works with Piper. . .)

Akron Watson came with his cousin William Green. Akron made it with a nice voice, but William basically "stole the show." Upon being eliminated, William came off as the coolest contestant ever to be on the show.

Before leaving the audition room, William said, "I'm going to walk out this door and talk some trash, but that's just for the cameras." Then he left the room yelling like he was angry. Hilarious!

Ashlyn Carr: looks like a model, and I had thought that she would have made it without even singing a note.
Once she started singing however, there was a little problem. She came across looking like Dionne Warwick cranking out a tune on "Solid Gold", complete with the facial ticks and twitches, the teary eyes, and the sparkly mouth. (I wish that Simon hadn't said exactly that. I WAS GOING TO WRITE THAT BEFORE HE SAID IT!)

The judges sent her away and back again. Ultimately she made it to Hollywood. Who knows whether she'll advance from there.

Jimmy McNeal: Nice looking guy, good voice, sang "Cupid." I liked him!

That's it for tonight. I will go wash the dishes and get ready for work tomorrow.
