Tonight's results' show pared the final four ladies down to the final three. Since they had 1 hour and 5 minutes to fill, we had to expect more filler than the usual results' show. (In a pre-Idol note: That extended trailer for "The Day After Tomorrow" looked pretty compelling. I might want to go see that this summer.)
For filler, I was pretty happy. The group songs were good (with Donna Summer and Clay Aiken.) The photo shoot and Clay Aiken interview weren't bad either. Donna Summer also got a second shot at singing solo. The long show seemed to flow as nicely as the results' shows usually do. Of course, I still prefer a half-hour results' show.
Diana was able to have a nice, restful show. The way that they paced this evening's show, she was able to learn her fate within the first fifteen minutes. It was probably a bit rougher for Fantasia, who learned that she was in the bottom-two early on in the show. Jasmine and Latoya were left to stew for the first 55 minutes of the show. ...Rough for them.
In the end, the bottom two were Fantasia and Latoya. That was a bit of a surprise. (Look at my last blog entry, the judges moving Jasmine to tears earned her A LOT of sympathy votes. That said: Jasmine isn't out-of-place in the final three. Imagine if John Stevens would have made it this far!) I had also been suggesting that Latoya hasn't been showing enough personality, and it may be hard to relate to "Fantasia's world." Of the four, Jasmine and Diana have presented images that America can "fall in love with."
The contestant who was eliminated was Latoya. What a shock! Once I saw that Fantasia and Latoya were in the bottom-two, I was sure that Fantasia was going to go. There goes my prediction of Latoya and Diana in the finals (with Latoya winning.) I will have to amend my prediction to Diana vs. Fantasia in the finals (with Diana winning.)
Jasmine has enough support however that I wouldn't be surprised if she snuck into the final-two. That would be okay. She's not so bad.
