Hello there everybody. Tonight's episode of "American Idol" is over and done with.
The final three contestants: Fantasia, Diana, and Jasmine were trimmed down to the final two contestants. This week it was Jasmine Trias' turn to say goodbye. The final two competing for the "American Idol" crown will be Fantasia and Diana.
It is a little sad to see Jasmine go, but I am sure that we'll see her again sometime in the future. I think that the least she will be able to do is have a successful career as a hair and makeup model. I also agree with my wife's assessment that she would be good on a situation comedy (if she can act.)
Before the announcement of the final results, we were treated to fifty-five minutes of filler. Tonight's filler was quite good compared to past episodes. Tonight we saw: vignettes of the contestants' travels home, singing by Guy Sebastian, and Tamyra Gray.
I really enjoyed seeing the vignettes of the contestants' hometowns. I was especially impressed with Jasmine's trip to Hawaii. It was obvious that there is a lot of support for her there. I was also impressed with Jasmine's speaking ability. She communicates very well for a budding popular musician.
Tamyra Gray also made an appearance. She sang two songs. I don't know much about Tamyra Gray, but she seems to be a pretty good singer. (The one thing that struck me about Tamyra was that she needs to gain a bit of weight. She kind of looks like Whitney Houston when the TV shows her getting arrested from time-to-time.)
We were also given a chance to hear Guy Sebastian (Australian Idol) sing a song. On an interview Guy seems like a rather nice... uh... guy. That is the good news. THe bad news is that I really don't dig that guy's singing. On "World Idol," and now on his "American Idol" debut he sang two songs that were pretty underwhelming. I don't really like his prospects stateside based on his "American Idol" performances.
I wonder why they can't let Kurt Nilsson (Norway and World Idol winner) sing on the show. Maybe the producers of the show are worried whether he'd upstage the current contestants. (If you haven't heard Kurt sing, you owe it to yourself to find and listen to a song or two of his. He's really good.)
That's all of my "Idol" chatter for this week. See ya' all later.
