Yesterday when we were at the hospital to see my mom, we bought some watermelon from the cafeteria.  My wife mashed up some of it, and we gave it to baby Kenny.  He didn't like it.

We tried giving him watermelon again while we were at a Chinese buffet for lunch.  We had similar results.

Watermelon goes in:

And the face goes "Ucko!"

In #3 he's looking at you like "Ok, why are you giving this to me?  Can't you tell I don't like it?  You wait, next time I'll throw it up on you!"

My son used to heave every time we gave him peas.  The peas would go in, and he'd gag.  Still happens, and he's almost 10.

Your little guy really is one of the cutest babies I've seen in an age...

Yes, my mother assured me that as he aged his taste buds would change and he'd like peas before he turned 5.

Sure.

Peas were created to poison the likes of us who think they're the most vile vegetable to grow on the great green Earth.

Pleagh!

Jaime~ That is to cute, doesn't part of you want to keep giving him watermelon so he will make funny faces?

How's your mom feeling?

We used to feed ours pickles and lemon slices just to get that reaction. Simple pleasures:)

He is such a cutie!  I think texture is a huge thing at that age.  I bet it isn't the taste but the feeling that makes him not like it at this point.

Hey, I will defend peas too.  I love them!  My 7yr old likes almost all veggies.  The 3yr old is still a picky eater.  They go through phases.  Neither of mine could stand potatos as babies.  Again, a texture thing I think.  The older one still doesn't like spuds but the younger one now loves them.

Oooh, you're mean!  We used to do the same thing....

Shea once ate a clove of raw garlic.  I was making marinara, and she grabbed it off the counter and stuffed it in her mouth before I could stop her.  The face pulling didn't start until after she had chewed it...and she had delightful breath afterwards!

Mmm Especially brussel sprouts.

I had some of those for dinner yesterday..with roast beef and all the rest of that jazz.
