My newest article:
Hey there friends. Another episode of "Superstar" is over! We were treated to another batch of dreadful performances and delusions of grandeur.
In this episode Minnesota's own Jo Jo was sent home. It'll be sad to see Jo Jo go, as he was definitely the most flambouyant of the four competitors. For next week's final episode, Jamie, Rosa, and Mario will duke it out for the "worst singer" title.
The show started off with the four contestants meeting with a choreographer. After teaching a few dance moves to the contestants, the choreographer had some clever comments on the lack of ability of the contestants.
Mario: performed "The Sweetest Sin" by Jessica Simpson. Mario's routine was complete with risque dance moves on stage. Thankfully, Mario reminded America that he is "engaged" after such a salacious performance.
The following segment showed the contestants looking at houses and cars. (At these points I feel a bit sorry for Rosa. She's so sweet and cute, but they're making her look a little foolish. I really hope that she lands on her feet after this.)
Rosa sang "Genie in a Bottle." That was by far the worst singing of the night, but you've got to admire the seriousness and sincerity with which she approaches the competition.
After Rosa's performance, we saw how the four contestants held up against an interview on "Extra." Mario answered a question about his family's reaction to his success on the show. His answer was so underwhelming that it was hilarious.
Mario's answer was something like "He (my dad) said, 'Good for you.'" It was such a boring answer, that it was funny.
As with the choreographer, the interviewer had a few funny comments about each of the performers after they were finished with the interviews.
The next song was by Jo Jo. If nothing else could be said about Jo Jo, we could all agree that he has a unique look, some sort of charisma, and his own way of doing things.
Jo Jo's performance was of course awful, but it was the least bad of the night.
Following Jo Jo was Jamie. Jamie had a good start to a Celine Dion song, until she really went to town on the chorus. Jamie's "big voice" doesn't really work well.
Fortunately for Jamie, the judges know that a lot of people are tuning in to see just her, so she will be safe for as long as the competition goes on.
That was it for Superstar USA for this week. We'll see how Jamie, Mario, and Rosa do in the next round!

For those of you who watched "Coupling" last night: What did you think? I just found out that the "Jeff" character won't be coming back. That's too bad, as he was pretty much "the straw that stirred the drink" in that show.
It looks like they'll ret similar things with the "Oliver" character, but it will take me a while to get used to someone new.
