So the Twins are playing in Montreal this week. That means if I watch baseball, the games end quickly. (Of course when they play on the West Coast, I enjoy the late night ballgames.)
Since the Twins game ended early, my wife was flipping through the channels at an earlier time than usual. We came upon a show on the Game Show Network called "Extreme Dodgeball."
Did anyone out there see it?
In the "Extreme Dodgeball" league, there are 7 or 8 teams. The composition of the five-member teams (as well as their names) is pretty interesting. It kept my attention for the half-hour that it was on television.
The Certified Public Assassins- a team of "nerds." Currently in first-place in the "league."
The Curves of Steel- four aerobics ladies and a muscleman.
The Barbell Mafia- muscleheads
The Silent-But-Deadly Mimes- mimes
Armed Response- security guards
Sumo Storm- an all-fat team
The Stallion Batallion- a team of jockeys
The point of the show is to pit these teams together in a game of dodgeball. It is slightly amusing, and the characters and announcers are funny. It reminds me a lot of roller derby, except the contestants don't have as much of that pro-wrestling type animosity toward each other.
I suppose the show was interesting enough to tune in again if there's nothing else on. I might find myself tuning into the Game Show Network to catch a replay of the William Hung version of Queen's "We are the Champions." (I liked William in the Freddie Mercury costume holding a Freddy-esque microphone stand. Funny.)
