When my wife and I moved into our house last summer, there wasn't a path between the house and the garage.  Not having a path made it difficult (and muddy) to walk between the house and the garage during the wintertime.  Having no path also made it quite difficult to shovel a walkway to and from the garage.

I decided that I would do something about that this summer vacation.

Over the past week, I had been bringing home 5-6 18" square bricks and a couple bags of sand on the way back from teaching summer school each day.  After 5 trips, I had finally brought home enough bricks and sand to do the job.  (Getting the bricks to my house was the hardest part of the whole job!)

Beginning this morning, I dug a trench between my house and the garage.  Once the trench was dug, I poured sand in to help with the drainage.  Once I got the sand in, I laid down the bricks.

There are two parts left of the job.  The first part is that I will have to work on leveling out some of the uneven spots on the path.  During a "walk-over" I noticed that there were five areas in particular that needed some extra evening-out.

The second part will require me to pour concrete in order to round out the corners.  This will be my second experience with concrete.  I hope that it goes well!

My wife wants me to widen the path with bricks.  (The path is pretty narrow as it is.)  I may do that eventually; but before I do anything else, I want to make sure that what I have is straight and looks good.

I still have a few hours/days left to go on this project, (Actually I was surprised at all that I got done today!) but here's what it looks like so far:

Your sidewalk looks really nice! Way to go! You've worked hard on it.

I liked the idea of the i-pot. Dad said you can check up on grandpa when he's drinking hot sakki again

It was beautiful here today! I got my nose burned. We are on our way to Saigon Restaraunt for supper.

Happy Father's Day!!!
