I wonder who will close for the Twins now?

Hey there! I hope that Tuesday was a good day for all of you.

I had a nice day. Work went well. I had a nice time with my students today. I also got a haircut on my way home. I look even more like Kenny now (especially when his hair stands up after he takes a bath.) -I will see about getting a picture up of the new haircut later this week.

Anyway as I was driving home today, I heard the news that the Minnesota Twins (my favorite sports team) lost their closer to the Seattle Mariners. In the past week, the Twins have lost their most reliable relief pitcher and their closer. (At least they retained Shannon Stewart...)

I wonder who will fill those recently-vacated roles next year? I hope that the Twins don't mind spending a little bit of money to get a guy. I suppose being a "glass is half-full" type of guy, I would like to think that Guardado's departure will give the Twins the opportunity to find a "lights-out" closer (somebody like Troy Percival, Dennis Eckersley, or Todd Worrell.) -Eddie Guardado was a decent closer, but he wasn't all that dominant as a closer. He always just kind of "got by on what he had."

It may be a good idea for the Twins to go find a guy from Taiwan, Korea, or Japan who is willing to come over and give it a shot. Who knows: maybe they're already exploring those options.

I am also drawing a blank on who the Twins' left-handed set-up guy was after Johan Santana was moved into the starting rotation. That may be a hole that the team needs to fill too. It'll be interesting.

That's all for today. Thanks for reading!
