My wife and I moved to Minnesota in 2001.  Since then we have visited the Renaissance festival here each year.  It is one of our happier times each year.

Last year when we went, Kazuko was pregnant with baby Kenny.  This year we brought Kentaro with us.  How cool!

Kenny seemed to have a really good time there.

The only downer of the trip was the traffic getting down there.  We were stuck in a two-hour traffic jam on our way down to the festival.  This was a first for us, as we usually end up going on the less-crowded days.

Anyway, if we ever end up going after noon again, we'll take an alternate route to get there!

Kenny and I rode an elephant at the festival.  Kenny also had a chance to get close to and meet a goose.  They even kissed!  Once the goose started 'honking' Kenny wasn't so happy, but it was a good contact!

Kenny and I rode an elehant too.  That was fun!

Kenny doesn't like shoes or socks.  His feet get dirty when we go out!  (We bought him two pairs of shoes today.)  He has never worn a pair of shoes for more than one hour of his life.  I hope that his new shoes are tolerable.

Here are what Kenny's feet looked like after the festival:

Aww, another fellow Minnesotan. I was on the Luce Line bike trail today and ran into two guys with rifles who were duck hunting...comical and scary at the same time. I missed my chance to go the Renaissance Festival for free this year since one of my buddies works there...oh well, perhaps another time. Hope you're enjoying the cooler weather as much as I am.

The one and only time that I went to the festival was for the 25th anniversary in 1995. I found it very enjoyable. My chalice sits on a shelf just behind me. This year I made a trip back to Edina and Bloomington, but was too early to attend the festival - I had to settle for the "Taste of Minnesota" instead.

Hi!
Is it really Kenny's foot? It looks big at his age.
It is said a child with big feet will grow taller. And he'll be popular among Japanese girls if he has a chance come to Japan, (like his father).

It looks big because I took the picture from a short distance. ...... I hope that Kenny has lots of chances to come to Japan. He is super-popular there as a baby! People even took pictures of him when we went out. We'll go to Japan again either next year, or the year after that.

I wish we could have made it to the RenFest here in MI this year but our schedules didn't allow.  It looks like so much fun!  Did they have full body armor jousting at yours?  That is one thing I definitely want to see.  Oh well, maybe next year.

No! no more talk about Minnesota! I miss home! I miss the state fair. I miss my college buddies from Concordia in St. Paul...

Nevada just isn't home!

Never had the chance to go to the renaissance festival...I'm glad that you and your family had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful day, so I see on the Star Trib website...and...the Vikes won!

Yeah, full-contact armored jousts were on the event roster. I didn't go, though. I'm probably overdue for another visit; I tend to think that one needs only go every 3 or 4 years because most stuff will be basically the same from year to year, so it takes that long for enough stuff to change to be interesting again. But it's probably been 5 years since I went.

The State Fair, on the other hand, is worth going to twice in 11 days.
