I watched tonight's first presidential debate.

Actually that's not completely true... I watched some of it, then I put it on the radio while I played golf on my Play Station.  Regardless, I did either listen to or watch the debate.

The first thing that I noticed was that Bush was able to find the camera, while Kerry focused on the moderator. "Connecting with America" is a good way to make up for Bush's deficiencies in substance.  Good job for him.

I actually wonder whether Kerry showed up for the screen test.  If he had, maybe someone in his entourage would have noticed that and pointed it out.

Not looking into the camera is something Clinton definitely wouldn't have missed.  I wonder whether in subsequent debates Kerry will make a better effort to "make love to the camera."

I know these are the sorts of things that people are loathe to discuss in these issue-heavy debates; but I think that by focusing on Jim Lehrer (arguably a handsome man), Kerry's margin of victory (or defeat depending on your personal dogma) was slightly lessened (greatly increased) because of this.  Instead of "hitting a home run" (winning the debate); Kerry hit a "double to the gap" (lost miserably).

I think if Kerry really looked into the camera, people would be seen his shallow heartless soul. You have to admit; sometimes Kerry can really creep a person out if you you looked at him right. I think his staff told him not to in order to prevent the few children watching (of the political crack heads that would keep them up this late) from screaming out of the room in terror.

But Bush with his narrow beady little eyes made people wonder if there was a brain back there.

*light statement, not to taken seriously*
Kerry is afraid of camera! He is afffrrraaid of the evil one eyed monster camera!

Now, being serious. Kerry does seem to be avoiding the camera or the people. He just kept staring at the interviewer. Bush seems to be sneering at Kerry when There is two person shot with Kerry closer to camera, or am I just imaging that? Bush does seem to be pretty much little bit angry the most times.
