I was a big fan of the television show The Practice.  Even though it was regularily manipulative, I enjoyed "taking the ride" each Sunday night.

Chicago Hope and Ally McBeal were really also fun David E. Kelley shows.  I even liked that show about the three young women lawyers (with "Claire" from Beverly Hills 90210 in it.)  Even though that show bombed out after two episodes.

Last week I was pretty stoked for the spinoff: Boston Legal.  They were bringing back two successful new characters from the last season of The Practice and giving them their own show.  Cool!

The first episode of Boston Legal was however a disappointment.  Once it was over I remember thinking, "What the heck was that?"  (I did take solace in the fact that I really enjoyed Desperate Housewives.  At least there would be one good show on Sunday nights.)

Tonight (thank goodness) we were treated to an entertaining episode of Boston Legal.  Yay!  I like the struggle over Denny Crane's competence.  (Shatner is awesome!)  I also like the understated sexual-tension that Alan shares with all of the women in the office.  (The production staff is doing a good job of not going too over-the-top with that.  We can all see things that will be coming, but we're not getting slapped in the face with them.)

I wonder if that recently de-committed lady will represent a new take on the George Vogelman character?  (Elanor Frutt's nutty boyfriend.)  Or maybe even that guy who was played by John Laroquette (he was evil!)

I can hardly wait for episode three!
