and the upcoming American Idol 3

Last night we all gathered together around the television to watch "World Idol." For those of you who don't know: "World Idol" took the winners of twelve countries' idol shows, and pitted them against each other to determine a world winner.

Kelly, the original American Idol, performed on that show. Since she seemed to be a lot better than the competition, I think that the main battle will be for second place. Kazuko and I both voted for the Norwegian guy. He had the best voice, and was the most memorable of the singers who were vying for second place.

I was surprised at how bad a lot of the various winners were. Maybe the stage and sound didn't suit their particular voices. All in all, the "World Idol" show was enough to get me excited about the upcoming "American Idol 3." Last year, that was one of the shows that we really enjoyed watching. I looked forward to Monday (or Tuesday) nights when it was on. It was especially fun to discuss the previous night's shows with my classmates at university.

I had been a big Clay fan. I also liked Carmen and Julia. I wonder who I'll like the next time around...

Okay friends, it is time for my lunch. Have a good post-Christmas adventure!

I thought Will the pop idol winner from the original Pop Idol before it was sold off to various countries, was the best on the night, his voice is so different to the others but youve got to want to listen not look for something to go wrong , Kelly deserves 2nd place

If Will is good in general, he wasn't so good in particular last night. I suppose we'll have to "agree to disagree." (Sorry to steal Simon's line.)

Looking at other forums, there seems to be a lot of Alex (from Germany) fans. They can't seem to accept the fact that he was terrible on Christmas.

It is funny how the pop idol finalists are "taken in" by their fans. So much emotional attachment is established during the competition that by the end, it is hard to look at our favorites objectively.

That said, I wonder if I could ever "dislike" anything that Clay Aiken does. I mean his CDs aren't necessarily awesome, but I guess I could give him credit for the old college try. He is the Idol contestant who I tended to pull for the most.

Actually I have to disagree - I'm a huge Guy Sebastian fan and a huge Australian patriot in general but he just was not on form during World Idol - it was the song - it was one of his worst on Australian Idol so I don't know why he didnt choose one of his others.

As for Will - he totally butchered Light my Fire - I can't believe he won Pop Idol - I'd never heard of him I thought Gareth Gates was the winner because I'd heard of him
