Hey there friends! I hope that you're having a nice day, and that you're all ready for that much-anticipated weekend.
According to the title, I intend to write about a few things that have been going on lately. Most of the time I write my weblog entries for public-consumption. I also use this as kind of a daybook that I will be able to look back on in the future. To the latter end I give you: Odds and Ends. (Written in a semi-Larry King style...)
-Man is it ever cold here in Minnesota! Cold and windy. The word "windchill" has re-entered my vernacular.
-It looks like Yokozuna Asashoryu is cruising toward a "zensho yusho" (winning every match in a sumo tournament.) As I said before, Asashoryu has been awesome as of late... (there are the elipses!)
-Tomorrow (Friday) I have a group of high school art students coming to my school. They are going to work with my students to paint a mural in the classroom. I think that the finished product will be really cool. It will kind of look like a Prince video on the wall.
-My kitchen sink is working again. We had to apply heat to the pipes for about a half-day before the water started running again.
-This weekend my Mom and Dad are coming from Duluth. They'll be able to see Kentaro. I am sure that he has grown a bit since they had last seen him. We're apparently going to have sushi for dinner on Saturday.
-Kazuko and I have been playing "Dance Dance Revolution" every night lately. I'd say that we're actually getting good at the game. I may have to invest in a second dance mat so that we'll be able to play together. It'll be more fun that way.
-It doesn't look like my favorite Democratic candidate (Joe Lieberman) will be in the race much longer. That's too bad. He is the most reasonable candidate out there.
-Speaking of the Democratic party nomination: When was the last time you saw a good photograph of Howard Dean? Ever since he has been granted the title of "unhinged" it seems like the mass-media producers are trying their best to publish the least flattering pictures of Dean possible. I would imagine that there are tons of outtake-type pictures of politicians (or anyone who gets photographed often) that if published would make every single public individual look like a looney. The cynic in me knows that Dean's "crazy" look sells newspapers and magazines.
All of this stuff said: I don't really know what the guy stands for anyway. Let him lose. I'll vote for the Democrats all the same.
Are you still reading this? You must be either a friend of mine or my mother.
More pictures coming soon...
