Last weekend was a busy one for me. I tried to get as much work done around the house as possible.

I didn't get around to raking leaves, but I was able to carpet some stairs and assemble a rocking chair for the baby. I tried to install a new ceiling light in the guest room, but previous residents of my house had installed the old light in a way that doesn't make changing it an easy job.

In between all of that work, Kazuko and I were able to watch "Bend it like Beckham." I had wanted to see that movie since it had first come to the theaters, but I hadn't been able to get around to seeing it until just last weekend.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie. I would recommend it to most people that I know. It was a really interesting story about how second and third generation immigrants can clash over cultures. It was sort of a story about the interplay between assimilation and holding traditional cultures. I seem to really enjoy movies like that. ("Fools Rush In" with Matthew Perry comes to mind.)

I also really liked that lady who starred in that movie. I haven't memorized her name yet, but as I continue to watch ER I am sure that I will be able to learn it. She is as cute as a button!

Is anyone out there keeping up on the new Joe Millionaire? My wife got me hooked on it. (Just like my last year's favorite show: American Idol.) I think that two of the Italian girls are quite charming (the outgoing one, and the one who looks like Monica Lewinsky with streaked hair), as well as that red-haired bartender from Germany. I will have to ask Kazuko who she is rooting for.

Pork chops for dinner tonight! Yummm!

See yazz!

Have you seen "Lost in Translation" yet? I recommend it, Jamie!
