My arms hurt.

Every winter, the Minnesota Twins hold a charity event at the Metrodome called Twinsfest.  It is a chance for fans to walk around the field, look at memorobelia, buy souvenirs, get autographs, buy tickets, and stuff like that.  There are concessions and games for the kids and all of that.  It is a pretty fun day for Twins fans.

Since my wife had some work-related training in Minneapolis, I decided that I would take my son with me to see the activities.  (My wife and I went back a second time after her training.)

While we were there, I looked around, felt the new Metrodome turf (it is TONS nicer than the old stuff!), ate some REALLY YUMMY fajitas, and I got some autographs (Brad Radke, Joe Mays, Terry Mulholland, and J.C. Romero.)

Kenny was really into running around and seeing the stuff.  There was plenty of stimulation for baby.  Going there, I figured that I would be able to carry him, or that he would be able to walk around by himself.  That was a mistake!  I was exhausted by the time I got the baby down to the field.  It was pretty rough hanging onto the baby, his luggage, and navigating the crowds.  Nonetheless, we had a fun time.  (Next year I'm bringing a stroller!)

There were a few photo opportunities for the baby during the festival.  First he had his picture taken with Bart Simpson:

Then he got his picture taken with Twins' mascot TC the bear:

Baby also had his picture taken with one of daddy's all-time favorite major league pitchers, Terry Mulholland.  Poor Kenny cried.  He is still afraid of anyone in a mustache and beard.  (Oh well, at least Mr. Mulholland took a good picture.)  I will show this to the Kenny once he's interested in baseball.

When we were in line to meet TC the bear, Kenny fell in with a small group of other babies.  ("Baby" is Kenny's new word.  Except he points to a baby and says: "Boo-Boo."  Close...)  He really got on well with seven month-old Josh.  (They look like they're related, don't they?)

Maybe Kenny can play first base for the Twins some day.  (If he doesn't make it as a pitcher...)

There was a kids' corner sponsored by Dodge trucks.  I think that this was the baby's favorite spot.  He was really into picking-up and putting down some pilons that they had there.  I think that he spent about 20 minutes with the pilons.  (He didn't leave out of boredom either!  Daddy had to take him away.)

The Dodge truck guys were giving out suckers too.  Kenny got a cherry one and he LOVED it.  Ate the whole thing.

By the time we went to pick up mom after her meeting, baby was pretty pooped-out!

I'm so jealous! I miss my Twinkies. I think they're one of the best teams out there. I think they care alot about Minnesota and give a lot back. I'm glad you and Kenny and your wife had a good time.

What a wonderful description, with pictures, of your and Kenny's day! I smiled through the entire entry!!!! Thanks for sharing your fun day with us! I'll be there to watch Kenny throw out his first pitch or make his first base catch!

Heh, getting the little one started on the path of the great American pasttime. A little slugger in the making. Good, I love to see that! Too bad it has to be the Twins. Your son is going to see them get a good whooping from the White Sox this season

The White Sox...

I don't think that they're going anywhere as long as Frank Thomas is on the team.  He seems to be too much of a distraction.  His influence also seems to undermine the manager.

Once again, the White Sox may flirt with .500.  I think that the real threat in the Central may come from the Tigers, but the Twins' starting five looks awfully strong:

1- Radke; 2- Santana; 3- Silva; 4- Mays; 5- Lohse  (You've got Nathan, Mulholland, Romero, Crain, and Balfour in the bullpen.  Maybe Nitkowski too.)  The pitching staff hasn't ever been stronger.  (The 1992 staff was pretty good.  Let's see if I can remember... 1- Tapani; 2- Smiley;  3- Erickson; Rats!  I forgot the rest!)

JC Romero was too cute to give up. What were they thinking? A girl has needs! Why do you think we watch baseball?

Who gave him up?

He'll be the left-handed setup guy this season.

I think Mikalah Grodn was the best one in Vegas. She didn't perform the standard Whitney or average pop singer song. She did something hard to prove a point. She has a trained voice, and a recognizable sound. She IS the package, and I think she will go far based on the fact that she is not ordinary like most of the ones who went to Hollywood.

Jesse Landon: Who were you expecting to read this post?

Jamie, I had to check out this article after reading your new one about finding responses in weird places.

This was hilarious! Maybe it is Mikala trying to beef up a fan club everywhere possible.
