Not for the faint of heart.

Hey there friends! I hope that all of you are having a happy weekend.

Today was an ordinary Saturday. I slept in, and then I woke up and thought about what to do next. I decided that I wanted to look back at some of my videotapes from the second season of "American Idol." (After watching the first few episodes of AI3, I seem to have "caught the bug" again.)

On the second floor of our house we have three bedrooms. One room is for guests/ our summer bedroom, another room is being groomed to be Kenny's future bedroom, and another room is used for storage. Ever since we moved into our new house, the only room that has been left untouched was our storage room. There were just random boxes of stuff up there that we didnft know what to do with. Worse yet, it was really hard to find anything up there. I have had numerous experiences where I had gone up there to find something (books, videos, music cassettes, photographs,) and have come back empty-handed.

Then today as I was rummaging around, looking for the "American Idol" videos, I was struck with the urge to clean and organize that room. I was able to empty a bunch of boxes, consolidate others, and throw away a bunch of junk that should have been before we moved. I was able to empty out over a dozen boxes, and come up with four bags worth of trash.

I had a good time. I listened to tapes by "The Pogues," "Cake," and a CD by "Jethro Tull." About three hours after I had started I had a relatively clean and organized storage room, and I had found my "American Idol" videos. Afterwards I treated myself to the musical stylings of Clay, Ruben, Trenyce, and Carmen. (I couldn't find any clips of Julia DeMato though. Too bad...) (Trenyce was better than I remembered.)

Now tomorrow my wife and I are going to go out and see whether we can get some shelves in there. I think that we're going to go with planks and cinder block. Even though that's not so fancy, it'll do the job. Cheap too. I guess that we're going for the "dorm room look" up there.

Here's what the room looked like after I cleaned it. It is too bad that I didnft have the forethought to take any "before" pictures. Nonetheless, you may be able to see that this room isn't cluttered. You'll just have to take my word for it that it was a cluttered mess up there.

Follow me through the doorway...

We have finally gotten all of the old videos in one place. I was able to tie shut the Christmas tree box too.

I was also able to make a few new shots of Kenny-Ken.

Cute baby. Check out the prices of other types of shelves they may be cheaper and steadier. I wish I could do all of my reorganizing in one weekend.
