Hey there everybody! Thanks for stopping by.

I hope that everyone has a Happy Halloween! The day at school is sure to be an adventure because the kids usually go crazy on this day. Halloween is a little over-stimulating, and it is best to go with the flow.

*******

Frequently on my way to work I like to stop by McDonald's to enjoy breakfast for the drive in. I usually order a coffee with my order. When I drink coffee, I like to drink it with cream and sugar.

When my coffee is given to me through the drive-thru window, I usually get the cream and the sugar with my drink. (Although I often only get one packet of sugar! Occasionally I will get one sugar and one Equal.) What comes less often is a stir-stick. This morning, as well as many others, I had to make a special request for the stir-stick to mix in my cream and sugar after I had been given my food and drink.

That makes me wonder: are there any people out there who don't like to stir their coffees after they've added cream and sugar? I mean: if I find myself a couple of miles down the road caught without a stir-stick, I hope that I have a pen or something that I can use to stir my coffee.

I suppose that there may be a small pocket of people out there who really like to savor a really sugary, cool last sip of the cup of coffee. I suppose that these types really enjoy the contrast between the cool and sweet last sip with the warm and bitter rest-of-the-cup.

Maybe I should start carrying silverware in my car. I already carry a pepper shaker and a bottle of tabasco.

Happy Halloween!

I don't ever buy Breakfast at McDonalds. But, every now and then I'll take my daughter in to play and I'll get a cup of coffee. The McDonalds by my house does not put the sugar and creamer out. You have to request it. I think that they waste more time in manpower than they can possible lose by people taking too much cream and sugar. i usually end up stirring with a straw because I forget to request a stir stick. Either the employees don't care (which is my assumption) or it is some bizarre cost cutting means.

I am sure that the employees don't care whether you use a stir stick or your finger to stir coffee, but it could be some sort of cost cuttings, too.
I used to work at Starbucks and we had 2 sizes of straws, mideum and large. And since large straws cost almost twice as much as medium ones, I know a lot of managers don't put large straws at the condiment bar even though they know that only large ones fit to iced-venti cups. They say, "If a customer needs it, he will ask for it. Till then we don't have to give it away." I got a lot of complains about it from customers who regularly ordered iced-venti drinks and I hated it.
Starbucks managers!! People are paying $5 for a drink at your store. They deserve one jumbo straw to enjoy their drink. Stop being paranoid about customers stealing straws from your store!!

Kaco, that's exactly why I don't go to Starbucks and other chains like that- they are all about cutting corners. The smaller, private coffee shops have to compete, so they usually are more accommodating. How hard is it just to give a straw with the drink? Seems simple, but they don't do it. I love the smaller coffee houses. They have more character and the workers are usually a lot friendlier and less stressed because they are there to help you.

I used to work for a Dairy Queen where everything was very very strict. ONE napkin per entree, etc. Anything extra we had to be asked for, ketchup, mustard, etc. You weren't supposed to "offer". Strange because the location actually was very friendly otherwise. It was a great store to work for. Just that all the extras were so strictly rationed like that---

Well, it could be that they are holding back on us so that they can keep their food prices as low as possible. Highly unlikely though. Its not the restaurant at all I don't think. For the most part the food prices for chains are all about the same. I did notice that McDonalds prices are higher though if it is in a location such as a mall. Of course they have to pay high rent there too.
Its the managers though that are dinging us. They want to keep their operating budget as low as they can so that they will get a bigger bonus.
More and more too, I have noticed that the young working crowd, (and this applies to any place,) can come off as rather rude acting at times. My last visit to McDonalds was not a pleasant experience at all. The girl at the drive through was so rude, if I could have reached her, I would have snatched her right through the window. I ended up not ordering there and I drove across the street to Ralleys. After all, "ya gotta eat." GCJ

Please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe you could use your dong to stir the coffee. That way, the coffee gets stirred and you get a not unpleasant feeling. If a policeman sees you, just explain that you weren't given a stir-stick and he's certain to wave you on with a cheery smile.
