On Monday night during the critique following Constantine's song, Randy Jackson sang a note to make a point.  After Randy sang, it seemed like Constantine said, "You'd better stick to rap."

Now I didn't quite hear it clearly, so I had been wondering about it for the last couple of days.  In fact, I spent about 45 minutes last night searching around the internet to read some report about what was actually said.  (Randy didn't look like he took the comment very well.)

On tonight's show, it was revealed that it was Ryan who actually made the comment which seemed to have offended Randy.  For Constantine's sake, that's good news.  It doesn't make much sense for the contestants to make borderline racist comments at the judges.  Ryan is becoming to fall in a habit of putting his foot in his mouth.  I suppose that makes the show interesting...

The Results Show:

On tonight's one-hour results' show, two men and two women were eliminated.  I am not sure whether I agree with their new elimination format.  It seems really painful for the eliminated contestants.  Once the contestants learn they're eliminated: they have to stand there, listen to Ryan, comment, hear the judges, and then sing.  That's awfully rough!  I wish that they could have a stool or something to sit on until they sing once they receive the bad news.

Like I had predicted the other night, the contestants who were eliminated tonight were those who received almost no television exposure since their auditions (if theirs' were even shown.)  It is rough for them because (like I said) it is hard to acquire new fans at this stage of the competition. (This may be telling:  Look what I wrote about the four -virtually unknown- contestants who were eliminated tonight compared to those who had more exposure.)

The first contestant eliminated was Melinda Lira.  I felt awful for her after she learned the results.  Sadly for her, she was the victim of questionable song and dress choices.  (The song would have stood out more if so many of the other contestants hadn't chosen similar songs.)

The second elimination was Jared Yates.  I can't really comment on him because I don't even remember his performance on Monday.  It probably wasn't anything special, but who knows.  I'll have to review the video.

The third elimination was Sarah Mather.  The judges seemed to imply that she could have possibly gotten screwed.  She's probably the biggest victim of the lack of early exposure.  She sounded nice when she sang her goodbye song, even though she was obviously sad.

Finally Judd (I forgot his last name) was eliminated.  Judd seems like a fun guy to go out for a beer with.  Not necessarily a surprising cut.

End note:  It seems like Scott Savol is finally doing something about his style.  Rather than taking my advice that I gave a few weeks ago, it seems like he actually decided to go for the Rick Nielson (of Cheap Trick) look.  I actually like it better than my earlier suggestion.

Let's see how they do next week!

I agree, how mean is it that they have to sing afterwards.

The first girl who was eliminated also said that she had not been exposed that much. I guess that is correct.

Although it is sad, those four would have been eliminated anyway, if it is just on singing for the night.

Thanks for posting the results, I miss the show due to other obligations. Recording it is a waste of time because I never have the time to watch what I have recorded ( still have Alias premier somewhere )
Looking forward to your next review.
