The theme of tonight's show was "Songs from the year 2000 on." I wasn't really optimistic about the entertainment value of tonight's show, considering that I wouldn't be familiar with many of the songs. Sure enough, I only recognized Constantine's and Vonzell's songs.
The Performances:
1) Carrie Underwood sang Lord knows what. Sometimes I wonder what happens during the sound check at rehearsals. The music was so loud that Carrie's voice was almost completely drowned out. One would think that the production staff would catch something like that.
Carrie really needs to learn a dance step.
2) Bo Bice sounded good, and was dressed well. I liked it when he twirled the microphone stand.
The other day I was in my car listening to the radio. The song "Lunatic Fringe" came on. Hearing that song, I imagined that Bo Bice would do a fantastic job with it if he had the chance.
3) Vonzell Solomon This lady has become a really strong contestant. She speaks well, she is pretty, and she is a good singer. Vonzell did a really good job with this song. I liked her performance.
4) Anthony Federov sang a big, melodic, theatrical song. I thought it turned out really well. If he sang this well every week, Anthony would be my favorite contestant.
5) Constantine Maroulis sang a song that I've actually heard in entirety. As usual Constantine's vocals were weak, but his performance on stage was strong. I feel that he's about to hit that wall that I predicted at the beginning of the competition (although much later than I had expected.)
6) Scott Savol was a bit dull, but his song wasn't as horrible as other efforts.
Best three: 1) Anthony Federov (I am surprised as you are!) 2)Vonzell 3)Bo
Poor this week: Scott, Constantine, Carrie
So do you think Scott will last another week?
