Today when I returned home from teaching a class, my wife greeted me with some interesting news. Apparently our little boy can recognize a few letters. My wife told me that while in the bath, our baby identified the letters A, O, and W.

I didn't really believe it at first, but sure enough, he named the letters when I showed them to him. (The pronunciation of "W" is kind of funny.) I was surprised that he had been paying attention to letters that much.

I can't resist writing about the second episode of "Hell's Kitchen" (Have you seen it?) That is a fantastic show!

Tonight Dewberry was eliminated. What can I say about that guy that hasn't been said in living rooms across the US (and Canada too I suppose)? I wish Gordon had eliminated both of the guys in the "bottom two".

It seems that Chris has been inspired by Gordon's teaching.

Best moment of the show: when Gordon called one of the customers a git. Hilarious!

Who do you think is going to win? My guess is that Ralph or Chris stands the best chance. (Elsie gets the win for most TV-friendly. They'll do good to keep her on for a long time. She gives good soundbites, she's pretty and well-spoken. She's an inspiration to housewives everywhere.) I have a feeling that Ralph is going to come on real-strong at about mid-series.

About tonight's no-air conditioning stipulation. Man! I have suffered through so many shifts working in a kitchen when the air goes out! Good real-world experience for the aspiring chefs. For me, those days with no a/c were the worst.

I watched it. It was interesting I thought as well. I think Davey? (can't remember if his name is Davey or David) should have been sent home. But I knew it would be Dewberry after his meltdown! You're right though, they both needed to get the axe!

I'm not sure yet whose going to win but I 'll play it by ear for now and tell you my opinion on that later. It's amusing to watch but man that Chef, Gordon, he's one mean chef!
