Over the past few weeks/months, I have been working on an upstairs bedroom for me and my wife. (We intend to turn our old bedroom into a play room for the kids.) I tore off wallpaper, scraped off glue, primed, and painted two colors (bergundy and touched-up a little white). We put up some curtains this afternoon, and we were ready to move our stuff up there early this evening.
After weeks of work we finally had our bedroom. We moved the mattress upstairs. Went fine...; however I was a little worried about whether or not we'd be able to fit our boxspring up our low-ceilinged staircase. Sure enough, our queen-sized boxspring didn't make it. I could feel my wife's disappointment, as it was equal to mine. At the point that we realized that "it wasn't going up," our hearts sank.
But...We did eventually get it up there! A few removed ceiling tiles, and a slight disassembly and reassembly of the boxspring got the job done. Doing this job gave me a new appreciation for boxsprings. Those things are pretty complicated. (Next job will be reinstalling the ceiling on my staircase. It will be good for me to replace a few damaged tiles that were there before we moved in anyways.)
We got the boxspring apart, and put it back together. Our bed is up. We have all of our bedroom furniture upstairs, and we're ready to sleep up there.
Next up: Kenny's room and the kids' playroom. Hopefully none of this will involve anything as complicated as taking apart (and putting back together) a boxspring.
