As I write this weblog, I am listening to the newest Liz Phair album. I must say that I listen to this CD more than any one than I have listened to in at least 2-3 years.

When I read reviews of this album, the words that jump out at me are "sell out," and "new pop-image." I haven't really read any good things about it.

I have been a Liz Phair fan for a number of years. I have a number of her CDs (not all of them,) and I always turn up the radio when one of her songs comes on. To me, her latest album is the best of the lot.

In the other Liz Phair albums that I have, there are more than a few dead spots per album. This new one has only one song that I refuse to listen to. ("H.W.C." Couldn't you guess?) I think that's pretty good!

Does anyoneone else have that album?

I don't have it. However, what is about her new music you like compared to her other albums? I like Liz Phair myself, but I tend towards her older stuff. But I would like to hear your point of view about her new album.

I think that it stands up pretty well compared to her older stuff.

The songs seem to be "louder" and "busier" than the others. Part of that is due to more post-production than usual, part of it is because there are more instruments being used per song than on the others. I also like that her songs are more upbeat on this album than on others.

The new songs are a bit catchier than the old ones. If you liked the song "Supernova," there are a few songs on this newest record that are comparable. There are lots of pretty cool songs on the "A-side" that I enjoy listening to repeatedly.

Liz sings a couple of "dirty" songs on this album, but fortunately none of them are too off-putting ...except that one that I referenced in my main entry on this topic.
