Awfully late...

Yes it is true.  This weblog entry was written in October, 2005.

If you are a somewhat regular reader of my weblog, you may know that I devote a lot of space to American Idol while the season is on.  I assume that this year won't be any different with the fifth season starting soon.  Please visit often to see what I have to say.

Today while shopping at a discount store, I ran across a season one retrospective for $1.  I figured that it would be a fun watch.  I like Idol, I missed the first season, I wanted to see how Kelly Clarkson actually did, and it is hard to go wrong for a dollar.

So tonight after "Desperate Housewives", my wife and I sat down to watch the season one recap.

What I learned from the season one video:

  • The two-host format wasn't a "winner" idea.
  • Justin Guarini wasn't as bad as I had expected him to be (I actually liked his singing), but he wasn't so easy for me to look at.  Kind of reminds me of a musical Sideshow Bob.  I wish that he had worn big shoes just once...
  • What happened to that Christina Christian?  She seemed awfully good!  Why was she in the hospital the day after big band night, and why isn't she famous now?
  • That Nicki girl received a really nice makeover.  She was pretty to begin with, but she was even prettier by the time she was eliminated.
  • It seems that Kelly Clarkson had been head and shoulders above the rest from the start.  Did she ever have an off-week during the competition?
  • Question:  What has that Ryan Star been up to since the show?  It seems like I've seen her somewhere outside of Idol.  I am just not sure where. (Maybe it was that 20/20 about Corey Clarke... Maybe not.)

I hope that some day I can find retrospectives of the other three seasons in the $1 department.  It was fun.

I only saw bits and pieces of the first season. I sure wish I'd been smarter and watched the whole thing. The second season was the best, though.

Ryan Star appearred on VH1 Surreal Life. That show is really awful and does not come close to MTV's Real World. She lived in the house with Jordan Knight, Flavor, Bridgett Neilson and a few others. I only watched it because it was soooooo sad.

AHA!  That's where I saw her.  I have seen that show a few times.

The only episode that I saw completely was when Chyna's boyfriend (Sean Waltman) came to see the group.  Peter Brady was the voice of reason.
