Hello there friends. I hope that all of you are enjoying your Friday!
My day is going by pretty quickly.
As an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, I see various small groups of children in three different schools throughout my day. On most normal days, I run through my ESL curriculum, as well as help kids with their homework. Those days seem to go pretty well. I am teaching, the kids are learning, everything is swell.
Today has been an diversion from that pattern. I have had to go through a translator to try to figure out a good time to schedule a conference. (Scheduling parent-teacher conferences and translators in three schools is the toughest part of my job. Thankfully it only comes up twice per year!) I had to work on getting some free-lunch for some of the kids. I had to re-schedule a translator which I had cancelled yesterday. Finally I had the opportunity to make a sick child check-up call in Russian. (I am a bit insecure about my Russian, because I haven't studied it for about 10 years. There were two native Russian speaking kids in the classroom when I made the call, and they had told me that my Russian was pretty good when I made the call. I was relieved.) This is part of the "leg work" that I do for my work.
Now that I have all that stuff done, I can go enjoy my lunchtime (which is dwindling as I write this.) The afternoon will be pretty much back-to-normal.
Then I can enjoy my weekend! Yay!
