Today I was thinking about the funniest moments of situation comedies.  I was thinking about times that made me laugh out loud.  Here are a few of my favorites.

1) The Marble Rye, Seinfeld.  I was busting a gut when Jerry was on the sidewalk, trying to heave a loaf of bread up to George in an apartment.

2) Carry a rich man around in his pajamas, Cheers. I was howling with the various excuses Norm gave to the CEO (I can't remember his character's name, but he was played by Tom Skarret) while he was trying to rescue Rebecca from his closet.  "Bees!  Killer bees!" and "It is my dream to carry a rich man around his yard in his pajamas."

3) Pick on Dick, Newhart.  Don Rickles guest starred on this episode, where an insult comic was placed as a co-host on Dick Lauden's show.  This was the funniest that I have ever seen Don Rickles.  Dick had a hard time getting through his show because his new co-host was being so mean to him.

4) The Cookie Canister, Everybody Loves Raymond.  Marie thinks that Patricia hasn't returned a cookie tin.  They get in a fight over it.  Patricia realizes that she actually has it, and Patricia and Ray try to sneak it back into Marie and Frank's house.  Ultimately, Frank ends up with the tin, and tells Marie that he was hiding it "as a joke."  His excuse cracked me up.

5) Eulogy to Chuckles the Clown, Mary Tyler Moore Show. Ted Baxter's on-air eulogy to Chuckles the Clown had me holding my stomach in.  "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants."

I may have a few more: there's a really funny city council meeting from Newhart, I have to find a favorite from "Coupling" and "Men Behaving Badly".  The "Coupling" scene that I remember was from the dinner party episode.  "Is it Legal" and "The Thin Blue Line" also have a few funny moments.  "The Simpsons'" funniest episode was when Homer was the nuclear plant's union representative. "King of the Hill" hit a high point when the guys ended up burning down a firehouse as volunteer firemen.

Any more that I've forgotten?

The old Dick Van Dyke show always made me laugh. Buddy's constant jabbing at Mel Cooley. Alan Bradey's bad hairpiece.
My favorite episode featured the British pop duo Chad and Jeremy (Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde). It was agreed that the duo, for their own protection from adoring fans should stay with Rob and Laura (Van Dyke and Tyler-Moore) As the duo were escorted into the house by Rob one of the boys pointed to a chair and asked Rob and Laura " Do you know what we call these in England?". Rob, with a look of curious expectation on his face and wonder in his voice replied "No, what do you call them?". The boys replied, with mock bravado, " A CHAIR!!!".

I laughed till I cried.

Other moments from other sitcoms include:

Frank Burns air raid shelter, with him running and diving head first into a water filled foxhole(by Hawkeye and Trapper of course) .

Cheers and "The Squeeky Shoe Club".

The Simpsons with Mr Burns and Waylon dancing around the machinery when the nuclear plant was on strike.

And most recently on the new sitcom 'The Office' when Jim Halpert encased Dwight Schrute's stapler in Jello.

That 70's show: Red walks in to see the dog on the kitchen counter. Red, "Why is the dog on the counter?" Kitty: "He likes to be tall."

And of course there are endless from my favorite animated comedies, Simpsons, Family Guy and King of the hill. Esp the episode oh KOTH where Hank accidently becomes a pimp.

episode oh KOTH where Hank accidently becomes a pimp

My favorite "laugh out loud" moment from KOTH was when the guys were fill-in firemen.  When they pantsed a guy at a funeral, that was funny.
