The auditions continue, and it actually seems that we're getting near the end. Thusfar there seems to have been a number of capable singers who have gone through, but I am still not "excited" about anyone yet. I suppose that sooner-or-later someone will emerge as my favorite in the contest.
Tonight's Las Vegas episode featured a lot of poor auditions with a few goodies sprinkled in. I will comment on a few.
Tonight's Idol Highlights:
- My favorite of the night was this fellow named Taylor Hicks. (He was the one near the end who kind of looks like Jay Leno.) I liked him, but I am not exactly sure why. I wonder how he'll do once he'll have to sing more "pop" songs. He seems like the type who could do a really good Elvis if he practiced a bit.
- Cute little belly dancer Mecca Madison came in with an awful hat, but with a nice voice. I can see a lot of appeal in this young lady. It will be interesting to see how she does if she lasts through Hollywood. She seems like the type to be able to amass a following through speaking/ interviews/ comments. (She'll be lucky if they put the microphone in her face a few times during the Hollywood round.)
- One guy named Ryan Hunter belched out some sort of "song". I wonder what's up with that? He was right: It was unique... Is there actually a name for what he tried to do?
- This one guy named Anthony had a bio piece, in which he explained that he and his wife have seventy-five animals at their house. I never get why anyone -who isn't in commercial agriculture- would have that many animals in one's house. I'd imagine that it would be unhealthy for both the pets and their owners.
Wow! That's it! Looking through my notes, I see a few names and comments written, but nothing really worth noting here. In conclusion: reasonably fun -albeit basically uneventful- audition episode, but I am eagerly awaiting the Hollywood round.
