Recently, a package arrived from my wife's family in Japan.  Inside the package was the usual assortment of videos, snack food, toys, and other presents. Among the presents was a cute little Anpanman costume for baby Kenny. Anpanman is a super hero loved by young children in Japan and in Asia.  His head is made out of a sweet bean paste bun.  He can let his friends eat part of his head to help them get energy.  If Anpanman's head gets wet, he has to have a new one ...

Click here for my most recent article. Tonight we were treated to another entertaining episode of WB Superstar America USA.  In the end: Rosa, Jo Jo, Jamie, and Mario were sent on to the next round.  Sadly, we have to say goodbye to: Nina-Diva, Tamara, John Michael, and Omar. The Performances: 1. Rosa: Sweet little Rosa sang "Wind Beneath My Wings."  It was pretty bad.  Now that Nina-Diva is out of the competition, Rosa is officially my favorite contestan...

Yesterday when we were at the hospital to see my mom, we bought some watermelon from the cafeteria.  My wife mashed up some of it, and we gave it to baby Kenny.  He didn't like it. We tried giving him watermelon again while we were at a Chinese buffet for lunch.  We had similar results. Watermelon goes in: And the face goes "Ucko!"

Hey there friends.  I hope that you're having a good weekend. My wife, my son, and I were having lunch at Panera in Elk River.  After lunch, I went into the bathroom to wash my hands.  I looked into the mirror and saw that my hair was getting really long and shaggy. Since there was a hair salon next door, I decided to get my haircut. I asked for the barber to use the "number 8 clipper."  (I thought that's what I usually get!) Apparently I don't usually get the num...

Hey there friends!  I hope that you've been having a good week. This week seems to have gone on forever.  I have been awfully busy at work.  I need to get lots of stuff done before the kids leave for the summer.  At around Tuesday afternoon I was feeling like it was Friday. In today's weblog I just have some pictures of the baby (and me) at WalMart.  We were shopping for some plants to put in the garden.  Kenny LOVES plants.  He likes to look at trees and...

The results' show is over.  After a season of ups and downs, Fantasia Barrino ended the evening as the new American Idol. Tonight's show was done very well.  It was a two-hour show.  The first half-hour was a "pregame" show, and then the 90-minute show itself was a good showcase of the entire season.  I think that tonight's episode of American Idol was the best one (and most dramatic) that I had ever seen. The "pregame show" 1.  There were backstage intervie...

Click here for my latest weblog entry. Up to now I had been writing about the third season of American Idol.  I was a bit lost as to what the next topic would be that I would dedicate two blogs per week to.  Then along came a show on WB called "WB Superstar USA."  (I recommend that you watch it.)  It might be my favorite new show that is currently on the air. The best thing about WB Superstar is one of the judges named Briggs.  This guy is a riot!  Some of t...

Click here for most recent article. The show is over.  Diana and Fantasia were given their choice of two songs.  Each singer also has to sing a song written by former contestant, Tamyra Gray.  I am not sure whether I particularily liked the Tamyra song.  It is probably her stab at writing an Olympics 2004 theme song.  (I suppose that the song would work for that...) In general the songs were good, and the audience was happy.  I didn't hear anything as fantas...

Click here for my most recent article. It is about a half-hour before the final showdown on American Idol.  We will hear the last performances by Diana and Fantasia before the voting begins. Like last year, I think that the results will be really close.  My prediction is that Diana will end up winning, but a good time will be had by all. Even though it is such a big night on Idol, I can't seem to get my mind off of what will happen with the final twelve on "WB Superstar USA....

The Natsu Basho (Summer Grand Sumo Tournament) has just finished.  At the beginning of the day, Hokutoriki led the field with 13 victories.  Yokozuna Asashoryu was in second place with 12 wins. All that Hokutoriki needed to do was to beat a new entrant into the upper division named Hakuho. Hakuho ended up beating Hokutoriki with a henka move (a quick shift to the side from the start,) followed by a slap-down.  It was a pretty cheap way to wrestle a guy who was playing for ...

My wife told me that she saw the commercial the other day.  The fourth series of "Coupling" will begin airing on BBC America from June 6th.  Yay! At the end of the third series, we learned that Patrick and Sally were falling in love with each other.  Susan and Steve are going to have a baby.  Jeff's relationship with his boss fizzled (too bad he missed-out on his coworker.)  And I can't remember what was up with Jane. I can hardly wait for the start of series four....

Yesterday as I was driving between worksites, I heard a song on the radio that I hadn't heard in a very long time.  After the song, the DJ didn't give the title, but she reminded us that we were listening to the year 1981 on "the 80s lunch hour." Now I know the song very well, I just wasn't quite sure on the title and the artist.  Later in the evening, I typed up a search for the "Top Songs of 1981."  Sure enough, I found the song "I Love You" by the Climax Blues Band....

For my most recent article, please click here Hello there everybody.  Tonight's episode of "American Idol" is over and done with. The final three contestants: Fantasia, Diana, and Jasmine were trimmed down to the final two contestants.  This week it was Jasmine Trias' turn to say goodbye.  The final two competing for the "American Idol" crown will be Fantasia and Diana. It is a little sad to see Jasmine go, but I am sure that we'll see her again sometime in the futu...

Click here for my most recent article. Tonight's episode of American Idol has just finished.  We heard Jasmine, Diana, and Fantasia sing: one song of their choice, one song of the judges choice, and one song chosen by Clive Davis (music producer.  Looks like Gorilla Monsoon.) The performers: First up tonight was Jasmine Trias .  Jasmine had nice hair and clothes this evening (per usual.)  Her songs however were a bit underwhelming. The judges really don't see...

For my most recent article, please click here Lots of TV tonight.  On tonight's "American Idol," there were interviews with the three judges, as well as interviews and songs by the final three contestants.  I was particularily interested with the interview with Simon Cowell.  He always has something interesting to say. Tomorrow night's "Idol" will be the one where we will see which two performers will be in the final two.  My prediction:  Diana and Fantas...
