208 Hello there friends.  I hope that you are having a nice weekend.  My wife, my son, and I had a happy day today. We left our house in the late-morning to meet some friends at the "Festival of Nations" in Saint Paul, Minnesota. At the festival, we were able to eat all sorts of yummy foods from many different countries.  The best thing that I ate was some tandoori chicken (Indian), Kazuko really enjoued some noodles (Chap-Jae) from Korea.  We were also able to brows...

Here is a bunny.  I caught him on camera.  He was enjoying his sun this morning. He is cute and all, but I sure hope that he doesn't end-up eating my garden.

Background information: a two-month bus drivers' strike has recently ended in the Minneapolis/ Saint Paul Metro area. A headline on the front page of the (4/30/04) Minneapolis newspaper reads: "Police caution against making link to ridership. Some crime ebbed during strike ." In the article, we learn that the number of crime reports had fallen at the Mall of America, and in both downtowns. The particular crimes which saw reductions were: narcotics sales, shoplifting, petty theft, and...

Click here for my most-current post! 205 The results' show is over. John, George, and Jasmine were in the bottom-three. This time John was mercifully voted-off. Regardless of the criticism from the judges, and quality of his performances, it took a positive comment from Simon on last night's show to finally get that poor kid eliminated. Next year if a similar situation arises, maybe we'll see Simon "gush" over a particularily weak contestant rather than tell what he actually thinks. ...

204 Hi there friends! Well, tonight's "American Idol" was interesting. The theme of tonight's show was "Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine." I must admit that I was a bit surprised by the theme. I didn't know that they had more than one hit song. Surprisingly however, I knew a lot of the songs that the contestants sang tonight. (It's kind of like Michael Jackson. I wouldn't have called myself a fan until I heard some of his albums and realized that I knew a whole bunch of ...

203 The other day as I was changing our baby's diapers, I had a thought. Our five month-old baby's diapers are decorated with images of Sesame Street characters, Barney, Mickey Mouse, and like that. I wonder whose benefit those pictures are for, the babies or the parents? Of course, the pictures are for the parents' benefit. My brilliant marketing idea would be to put jokes, classified ads, household hints, racing forums, stock tips, rock stars, whatever on the diapers...

201 Since I was very young, I have been interested in professional wrestling. From that time, my interest in wrestling has experienced its peaks and valleys. In general, I have always tried to keep abreast of what is going on in the wrestling circles. I haven't been watching pro wrestling as often as I had been in the past, but I still faithfully read a locally published newsletter on the topic. The other day, I won a radio contest from which I received two free tickets to a WWE ...

201 One of my favorite programs on television is the "Iron Chef" reruns. It is such a shame that I wasn't able to watch that show when I was actually living in Japan. Apparently, that show was on during my work hours. About two years ago, the UPN Network tried to make their own version of "Iron Chef." The Kaga-san character was played by William Shatner, the crowd was crazy, and the judging panel consisted of has-beens and washed-up comedians. Even though I had high hopes for the...

Here it is: article number 200. Thanks to those of you who have been faithful readers of my weblog. I enjoy seeing that people read what I write, and that they occasionally place comments. For this entry, I am reprinting my top-five articles as of April 21st, 2004. The first article about the last episode of "Friends" has been referred many times. I seem to have written a pretty topical article. The second article was about the purchase of a new picture phone. It has certainl...

199 Hey there friends! I hope that you're having a happy Friday. My wife and I just returned from a walk to the pet store. We bought two goldfish to put into our aquarium. The ulterior motive of our trip was to put baby Kenny to sleep. He hadn't had a nap today, and it seemed that he was getting a bit sleepy. It worked. He was sleeping by the time we got home. Baby Kenny is doing really well these days. He is babbling and giggling, drooling, and gurgling. He seems like ...

Click here for my most recent post 198 Well Well. American Idol is over for this week. The results' show was awfully surprising. LaToya, Jennifer, and Fantasia were in the bottom three. I would have to say that the three contestants have suffered as a result of being coined "The Three Divas." I read the results of tonight's show to be that since there are only so many "diva" fans to go around, the three young ladies ended up cannibalizing each other's votes. One of the three being ...

197 Well, American Idol is over. We had a good time watching it here at my house. Tonight's theme was "The music of Barry Manilow." I remember the first time I was exposed to Barry Manilow. He was the earliest guest that I remember seeing on "The Tonight Show." I remember that he had a piano with him on center stage, he had a gigantic nose, and that Johnny Carson was sitting near Barry's piano as he sang a song. (I must have been 6-7 years-old at the time, which would make the year...

196 Hi there. I am a teacher, but since I work at three different schools, driving between job sites is part of my daily routine. As I was driving between schools today, I heard the song "No More Tears" on the radio. That song is really cool, and it has a pretty nifty guitar hook. "No More Tears" is a song that I enjoy to turn up loud and sing-along. Singing along with the song today, I thought: "This song's lyrics are nonsense." It was like Ozzy took a bunch of miscellaneous...

195 Hello there friends! I hope that you are having an interesting and fun weekend. I just finished a pretty busy Saturday. After waking up, my family went to an ECFE benefit garage sale at the High School in Elk River. We were able to buy a lot of baby stuff for just $14. We got some clothes, books, and toys. Our most interesting purchase was a baby jumper. We've had our eyes on one of those for some time now. (Instead of paying $20 for one, we were able to find one for $3 in ...

***For up-to-date Idol commentary, visit my most current post  (click here.)*** 194 Well, the results' show is over. This time it was Jon Peter Lewis' turn to get "screwed" by John Stevens. I was surprised at the bottom three tonight. I thought that Jon Peter Lewis and John Stevens were "immune" to getting into the bottom three until there were six contestants left. I wasn't so surprised that Diana was down there, but I was surprised to see that she polled higher than eit...
